The fund is co-managed by Fidelity Management & Research Company, Fidelity Investments Money Management, Inc., Fidelity Management & Research (U.K.) Inc, Fidelity Management & Research (Hong Kong) Limited, and Fidelity Management & Research (Japan) Inc. It invests in the fixed income markets of the United States. The fund primarily invests in investment-grade debt securities of all types and repurchase agreements for those securities. It seeks to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity of three years or less. The fund focuses on factors like credit quality of the issuer, security-specific features, current valuation relative to alternatives in the market, short-term trading opportunities resulting from market inefficiencies, and potential future valuation to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the Barclays U.S. 1-3 Year Government/Credit Bond Index. The fund also invests in other funds. It was formerly known as Fidelity Fixed-Income Trust - Fidelity Short-Term Bond Fund. Fidelity Salem Street Trust - Fidelity Short-Term Bond Fund was formed on September 15, 1986 and is domiciled in the United States.
