Aitken Spence PLC, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the tourism, maritime and freight logistics, power generation, money transfer, property management, insurance, and printing businesses in Sri Lanka. It is also involved in apparel manufacture and plantations related activities. The company provides inbound and outbound travel services; owns and operates a chain of hotels and resorts; and operates as a general sales agent, as well as provides destination management services. In addition, it offers maritime and port services, such as supply of marine lubricants, shipping agent, liner shipping agencies, and container services; freight forwarding and courier operations; integrated container services; cargo, and education services. Further, the company provides packaging services; manufactures and exports apparel to departmental stores and apparel importers; constructs and operates thermal, wind, solar, hydro, and waste to energy power plants; produces tea, rubber, and oil palm crops. Additionally, it engages in the property development business; owns and operates multi-storied office complexes, buildings, and land; renting of property; operates as agents and distributors for marketing, installing, commissioning, and maintaining OTIS elevators, escalators, and moving equipment; and provides general insurance agency services. Furthermore, the company operates water bottling; and operates private maritime and higher education campus. Aitken Spence PLC was founded in 1868 and is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The company operates as a subsidiary of Melstacorp PLC.
