Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has refrained from spending money on advertising in the past and has only recently indicated plans to test the ad waters earlier this year. However, since the announcement of the automaker’s intent to promote its cars, several of the company's advertising campaigns have started to appear in public, including a recent sighting of an ad in a Japanese airport.

A recent post on "X" (formerly Twitter) by user Omarr0717 shows a large row of screens showcasing Tesla advertisements at Tokyo Haneda International Airport this week.

The posted video displayed various ads, providing information about the Tesla Model Y, the Autopilot system, Superchargers, Camp Mode, and more.

The advertisements were displayed on large side-by-side screens, cycling through various topics. Each screen featured a QR code, allowing viewers to scan and be directed to the automaker's website for more information.

The news follows extensive discussions in recent weeks and months regarding the extent to which Tesla should invest in advertising.

CEO Elon Musk only revealed plans to engage in "a little advertising" back in May. Nevertheless, there are still opinions suggesting that the automaker should increase its advertising efforts.

Still, Tesla has largely relied on word of mouth to advertise its products, along with Musk’s regular posts on X regarding Tesla and many other unrelated subjects.

Shares of TSLA are up 0.54% in early trading on Thursday.
