Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) unveiled a new category of personal computers with AI features on Monday, known as "Copilot+" PCs, at an event held at its Redmond, Washington campus.

The new devices, starting at $1,000 and shipping from June 18, can execute more AI tasks independently of cloud data centers, Microsoft noted. One of the notable features is "Recall," which logs all computer activities, from web browsing to voice chats, and stores the history locally, allowing users to search for their past actions, even months later.

According to Yusuf Mehdi, head of consumer marketing at Microsoft, the company expects that the these AI-enhanced PCs will hit 50 million in sales over the next year. During a press event, Mehdi said faster AI assistants that are available directly on a PC will be "the most compelling reason to upgrade your PC in a long time."

Moreover, Microsoft executives announced that GPT-4o, the latest technology from OpenAI, will soon be integrated into Copilot.

Also, the tech behemoth introduced a new generation of its Surface Pro tablet and Surface Laptop, featuring Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) chips based on Arm Holdings' (NASDAQ:ARM) architecture.

Microsoft also unveiled Prism, a technology that enables software designed for Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) chips to run on Arm-based chips.

The company said new Copilot+ PCs will be sold by itself and a number of manufacturers, including Acer and Asustek.
