The 2024 Polkadot Hackathon is nearing its conclusion as 25 projects have advanced to the final stage of the Singapore round.
The event, which started on July 11, will host its Demo Day in Singapore on September 17 and in Bangkok on November 16. A total of 279 developers took part, forming 69 teams, with 34 projects submitted for preliminary review.
The selection process looked at criteria such as technical difficulty, project completion, and standardization, with 25 projects making it past the first review.
The judging panel included Substrate community developer Kaichao, PaperMoon Developer Relations Engineer Jun Zhou, and Nicolas Martin Hussein.
Among the finalists is WeTEE, which offers decentralized computing power for the Polkadot ecosystem, allowing Web2 applications to be deployed in a secure environment without code modifications. Enhanced Token Fortress (ETF.one) is another finalist that provides a zero-trust Web3 asset management platform.
Other projects in the lineup are iNFT, which makes deploying blockchain applications easier with the Anchor Network, and FlyAIMusic, a decentralized platform that uses blockchain to improve copyright management and revenue distribution for music creators.
Other entries include Conduits, a blockchain solution for decentralized resource access; OpenAuth, a tool for Web3 authentication and custodial wallet integration; and Bolarity, a platform that enables interoperability across different virtual machines.
Despite market challenges, developer activity in the Polkadot ecosystem remains strong. Per its recent statistics, the network now hosts 29,917 repositories, with weekly commits exceeding 5,500. Around 900 developers contribute each week as well, keeping the ecosystem's momentum active.
Later this month, Polkadot Decoded Asia is set to take place in Singapore as part of TOKEN2049 Week. The conference will focus on the Polkadot ecosystem and various aspects of the Web 3.0 domain, with preparations well underway.
Polkadot Decoded Asia is a key event for the Polkadot community, focusing on the Asian market while drawing a global audience.
The Polkadot Mobile App, teased by Parity CEO Bjorn Wagner at Polkadot Decoded, is set to launch for select users in September 2024.
