Investing.com -- On Tuesday, Moscow reported that Ukraine had launched six U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles, six UK-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles, and at least 146 drones into Russia. Moscow has stated that this attack will not be left unanswered.

The first time Ukraine launched ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles into Russia was last year. In response to this, Moscow fired a new intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile, known as "Oreshnik" or Hazel Tree, at Ukraine on November 21.

Russia's defense ministry claimed that all Western missiles fired by Ukraine at the Bryansk region were intercepted. The ministry also reported that 146 drones were shot down outside the war zone. Additionally, two more Storm Shadow missiles were intercepted over the Black Sea.

The defense ministry stated that the actions of the Kyiv regime, backed by its Western supporters, will receive a response.

In November, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the conflict in Ukraine was escalating towards a global conflict. This came after the United States and Britain allowed Ukraine to launch their missiles deep into Russia for the first time.

President-elect Donald Trump has advocated for a ceasefire and negotiations to swiftly end the war, leaving the long-term support of Washington for Ukraine uncertain.
