Investing.com -- Stocks were little changed heading into the closing bell after a days of ups and downs as investors await another week filled with corporate earnings.

Federal Reserve officials are scheduled to speak this week, including two appearances by Chair Jerome Powell. The central bank's policy makers have signaled that the Fed's interest rate hikes could be coming to an end soon, though they left the door open to one more rate increase this year. But the hope of an end to rising rates lifted stocks to their best week of the year last week.

Futures markets expect the Fed will pause at its next meeting in December. Before that, it will see more economic data, including the consumer price index, which comes out next week.

Retail earnings are pulling up the end of third quarter earnings season and could provide investors will insight into what big department stores and other merchants are preparing for during the holiday sales season.

Here are three things that could affect markets tomorrow:

1. Uber Technologies reports

Ride-hailing platform Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE:UBER) is expected to report earnings of 7 cents a share on revenue of $9.5 billion.

2. Occidental Petroleum

Energy company Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) is expected to report earnings of 86 cents a share on revenue of $7.06 billion.

3. Consumer credit

The latest reading on consumer credit for September is due out at 15:00 ET (19:00 GMT). Analysts expect a gain of $10 billion, after a contraction of more than $15 billion in the prior reading.
