Investing.com — GameStop Corp (NYSE:GME) is moving into the metaverse after a job listing posted by the company said it is looking for candidates who have "built products from scratch" and have "dabbled in the new Web3 world."
The video game retailer also said it is looking for someone with "a general understanding and experience with Ethereum, NFTs, and blockchain based gaming platforms."
GameStop outlines in the job listing that games will "be places to go, and play is driven by the things you bring," along with other metaverse type features.
Back in May, GameStop created an NFT dedicated page where it said it is looking to build a team of engineers, designers, gamers, marketers, and community leaders. While there is no mention of an NFT marketplace, all roads on the page seem to point that way.
GameStop shares spiked in the early part of Tuesday's session, climbing to $181.55. However, they have since lost momentum, turning down 0.2%.
