MANILA, Oct 14 (Reuters) - The Philippine central bank said
on Wednesday it has revised its current account projection this
year to a surplus of $6 billion, or 1.6% of gross domestic
product, from a May forecast of a $1.9 billion deficit, or 0.5%
of GDP.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) expects a current
account surplus of $3.1 billion for next year, or 0.8% of GDP.
BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said the balance of payment
surplus and foreign exchange reserves forecasts for this year
have also been revised higher, taking into account the latest
global and domestic economic developments.
