Dec 12 (Reuters) - China's yuan surged to a one-month high
of 6.9638 per dollar in offshore trade on Thursday after U.S.
President Donald Trump tweeted his government was "very close"
to securing a trade deal.
The currency rose 0.8% on the day CNH=D3 after the tweet
which said: "Getting VERY close to a BIG DEAL with China. They
want it, and so do we." Trump was expected to meet with his top
trade adviser to discuss the Dec. 15 tariffs deadline, sources
have told Reuters
