Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to expand the number of laptops using its in-house chips next year, while it is also working on a larger Macbook Air, according to Bloomberg.
The Macbook Air will have a 15-inch screen and be released as early as next spring, Bloomberg said, citing people with knowledge of the matter. If the report is correct, it would be the first Macbook Air model of that size.
Furthermore, Mark Gurman, writing for Bloomberg said Apple is also developing its smallest new laptop in years, a 12-inch laptop which it is considering releasing at the end of 2023 or at the start of 2024. It would be Apple's smallest model, the 12-inch MacBook, in 2019, which was discontinued.
Since Apple developed its own chip, it has begun the process of moving away from chips created by partners. This week Apple announced a wider version of its 13.6-inch MacBook Air that will use its M2 chip.
Gurman stated that Apple considered a 15-inch Macbook Air for this year but delayed the plans and instead focused on the 13.6-inch model.
