Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) on Tuesday firmly denied allegations made by a German union and recent media reports suggesting inadequate health and safety measures at its gigafactory near Berlin.

The company emphasized that safeguarding the well-being of its workers remains a paramount concern.

Over the last two weeks, the U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer has faced scrutiny following revelations from German media, which cited documents from local authorities in Brandenburg.

The reports highlighted a notably elevated occurrence of work-related accidents leading to employees needing at least three days of sick leave at the facility, where approximately 11,000 individuals work.

The report outlined incidents of severe injuries, including burns, exposure to hydrochloric acid, and cases of amputated limbs.

In a written statement, Tesla mentioned that its workers receive safety training and are provided with protective gear. They also mentioned that the local authorities regularly check if safety measures are being followed at the plant.

However, Tesla did not directly address the union's claims or the media reports about the number of accidents or workers taking sick leave at the plant.

Shares of TSLA are up 1.53% near end of day trading Tuesday.
