Investing.com - The European Union agreed on Tuesday to close the bloc's external borders for 30 days in a coordinated effort to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. But movement within the EU would still be permitted.
The move comes as the EU has now become the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, with infections across Italy, France and Spain up sharply.
United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL) was down 11%, American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) was up 0.6% while Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) fell 13% on a day in which President Donald Trump continued to back the idea of providing support to stricken airlines as the virus outbreak has cratered travel demand.
