Smith is a member of the Bond Portfolio Managers Association and the Municipal Bond Club of Baltimore. He was born December 4, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Her investment style emphasizes sector rotation and relative-value analysis. Kutler is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Washington Society of Investment Analysts. She was born in New Delhi, India, and has two children.
