Biography Mark M. Montgomery, CFA®, Senior Managing Director, joined Sterling Capital Management in 1997and has investment experience since 1990. He began his fixed income career working on Vanguard’s taxable index bond team and later joined the municipal group working with their long-term and high-yield portfolio management team. Biography Mr. LaCoff is a Senior Managing Director. Mr. LaCoff joined the Sterling Capital Management LLC in 2007 and is a Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager and head of Sterling Capital’s Fixed Income Trading and Analytics. He has investment experience since 1991. Prior to joining Sterling Capital, he worked for RiverSource Investments as a Senior Portfolio Manager. Prior to RiverSource, he developed domestic as well as international fixed experience during his nine year tenure with Payden & Rygel Investment Counsel. During that time he held a number of positions that included Global Bond Strategist, Head of Global Non-Dollar Investment Grade Credit Strategy, and Head of Municipal Bond Strategy and Trading. Additionally, he managed taxable and tax exempt portfolios at Vanguard Group. Mr. LaCoff is a magna cum laude graduate of Villanova University where he received his B.S. in Business Administration and holds an M.S. in Finance from Drexel University.

Dave co-founded Trinity Capital Advisors in 1989, which merged into Sterling Capital Management in 1991. Prior to that Dave was Treasurer at McDevitt & Street Company where he managed their internal investment portfolio. Before McDevitt & Street, he worked for NCNB Funds Management Division trading foreign exchange currency, Euro dollars, and money market positions.

Biography Robert F. Millikan, CFA, Executive Director, joined BB&T Asset Management in 2000 and Sterling Capital Management through merger in October 2010. He has investment experience since 1990. Bob is responsible for managing the state-specific municipal bond fund portfolios for Sterling Capital Funds as well as for the tax-free funds’ investment policy, research and management. Prior to joining BB&T, he worked for First Citizens Bank as Vice President and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager for both taxable and tax-exempt accounts. Bob is a graduate of Wake Forest University where he received his BA in Economics. He is a past President of the North Carolina Society of Financial Analysts and also a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Carolinas Municipal Advisory Council. He is a CFA charterholder. He is currently serving on the CFA North Carolina Strategic Advisory Board.

Biography Brad D. Eppard, CFA, has been the Portfolio Manager of the Intermediate U.S. Government Fund since July 2003. Mr. Eppard is a Director and Portfolio Manager with Sterling Capital. He joined BB&T Asset Management in July 2003 and Sterling Capital through merger in October 2010. Mr. Eppard has investment experience since 1985 and holds a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting from Radford University. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Biography Joe has 19 years of investment experience and is responsible for analyzing corporate issues for Eagle’s Fixed Income group. Prior to joining Eagle in 2004, he was Senior Vice President & Corporate Bond Portfolio Manager at BB&T Asset Management, where he managed over $1 billion in corporate bonds, as well as BB&T’s Intermediate Corporate Bond Fund. Joe earned a B.A in 1990 and an M.B.A. in Finance and Investments in 1998, both from Wake Forest University. He is a CFA charterholder.
Keith F. Karlawish Portfolio Manager 1999 2003
Biography Karlawish is a portfolio manager with Branch Banking & Trust Company. He joined the company as a financial-analyst team leader in September 1991 and became a portfolio manager in June 1993. Previously, he spent a year as a senior market analyst with Coopers & Lybrand. Karlawish earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1993.
