Biography | Haakon Kavli joined Prescient in April 2015 and took on the role as a portfolio manager. He was thus responsible for managing the balanced funds such as the Prescient Balanced Fund, Prescient Absolute Balanced fund, to name a few. Haakon was also responsible or macroeconomic and quantitative research for asset allocation. Haakon has been in the industry for 5 years. During these 5 years, he held a PhD scholarship with the South African Reserve Bank, independent consultant (through sole proprietorship, Kavli Analysis). There after he became a lecturer of economics and finance at UCT. Biography | Raphael joined Prescient Investment Management on the 26th August 2015 as Chief Investment Officer. Raphael has 15 years institutional investment and wealth management experience in South Africa and in the United Kingdom. From 2006 to 2012, Raphael was the Chief Investment Strategist of QT Capital Management; a hedge fund specialized in Quantitative Portfolio Management strategies. From 2003 to 2006 he was the head of quantitative equity research at Investec Securities where he was nominated best quantitative research analyst in South Africa by Financial Mail survey of 2006. Raphael began his investment career at Investec Asset Management in Cape Town in 2001 as fixed income analyst and asset and liabilities portfolio manager. He joined Investec Asset Management after obtaining a master’s degree at Rand Afrikaans University (now called University of Johannesburg) in 2000, where he also subsequently completed his PhD. Before joining Prescient, Raphael was the head of investment and product strategy for the entire private client segment of Barclays Africa Group Ltd, including Wealth, AIFA, Business Bank and Private Bank. Raphael is a fellow and visiting lecturer at the University of Johannesburg where he teaches a financial engineering class for master’s students. | ||
